FAQ

What organization is producing this event?

The Burton Mile is presented by the City of Burton Parks & Recreation and the team that brings you the Burton Race Series

Is there a charity partner to receive the proceeds?

No. Based on the low entry fee we do not expect to have a significant profit. The goal is to have an accessible and fun event for the participants and spectators.

Why is the time limit to finish 15:00 minutes?

The race will start immediately before the parade so all participants must beat the parade down the course to the finish line. Timing will be suspended at 2:15 PM and anyone that has not completed the race will be directed off the course.

Is the Burton Mile for elite runners only?

Absolutely not! The event is open to anyone that can complete a mile in 15:00 minutes or less.

Are there age-group awards?

Not at this time. We are currently planning on top ten men and women, but that could change based on participation.

Will there be separate races for men and women?

No. This is a mass start race with all participants starting at 2:00 PM. Please position yourself based on your anticipated per mile pace. As the event grows we would expect to have separate elite men and women races prior to the amateur race.

I am a student-athlete and cannot accept prize money. What if I win?

Please inform the race director at the event and we will make arrangements to donate the prize money to your school or a local charity of the race committee choosing.

Is there a longer distance run?

Yes, the City of Burton Memorial Day 5K Run & Walk at 9:00 AM. You can learn more at runburton.com.

Are baby strollers or pets allowed?

Due to the nature of the event baby strollers and pets are not allowed.

Is the start line really a mile from packet pick-up?

Yes it is. We will have limited shuttle service for participants from the packet pick-up location to the start line if needed.
