To encourage participation the early entry fee is only $15. The entry fee will increase to $18 on May 1, 2019. Race day entry fee is $20. The entry fee includes a closed USATF-certified course with cheering spectators, professional RFID tag timing, and awards to the top finishers.
Your entry fee includes a closed USATF-certified course with cheering spectators; shuttle service to the start line; professional RFID tag timing; awards to the top finishers; a digital finishers certificate, finish line photo, and video attached to the Athlinks online results.
- On-site registration and packet pick-up are Noon until 1:30 PM.
- Staging at the start line begins at 1:45 PM. The start is one mile from the registration area and finish line, so plan accordingly to allow time to start at 2:00 PM.
- Start 2:00 PM sharp!
- Race finishes no later than 2:15 PM.
- Place awards will be available beginning at approximately 2:30 PM.
All participants must finish the run before the parade reaches the finish line.
Packet Pick up:
On-site registration and packet pick up will be held at Burton City Hall from Noon until 1:30 PM on race day. Registration will close at 1:30 PM to allow time for participants to proceed to the start line, which is one mile away. Sorry, there will be no exceptions to registration close time. Shuttle service will be available to transport participants to the start line.
Race day parking will be available at Burton City Hall and the surrounding area. Please arrive early as this is a very popular parking area due to the parade festivities. We recommend that you carpool if possible.
This straight and fast one mile course is USATF-Certified. You can be sure your time will be accurate with a certified course. The starting line is located near Wind Works at 3333 Center Road with the finish line at Burton City Hall.
Portable toilets and water will be available at the start and finish line. Shuttle service will be available to transport participants to the start line.
Prize Money: The top three men running a 6:00 minute mile or less, and the top three women running a 7:00 minute mile or less are eligible to receive prize money. Payment will be made by check and mailed to the registration address on file. Award amounts range between $300-$100.
- 1st place – $300
- 2nd place – $200
- 3rd place – $100
Student-athletes: Any student-athlete unable to accept prize money due to eligibility requirements may choose to have their prize money donated to their school athletic program or authorize the race committee to donate the prize money to a local charity.
Place Awards: The first place male and female winners will receive a custom 18″ x 6″ Burton Mile Street Sign for their trophy room. Custom Burton Mile place medal awards will be presented to the top ten men and women at the conclusion of the event. Please check the results prior to the awards presentation to see if you are a winner. If you can run a 15 minute mile or less, you are eligible to participate and compete for Place Awards.
TIMING & Results:
The race is a single mass start event with all times based on “Gun” time. The race will be professionally timed by Newton Timing & Race Services using RFID bib tags, with the results posted live on mobile devices. Results will be linked to Athlinks so members can have results listed in their person race history.
